17 months
Camdon, you turned 17 months on Feb. 15th!
Perhaps the most important development is that you are FINALLY sleeping through the night!! At the end of January, mommy and daddy left overnight for the first time (youth retreat), and you didn't get up either night....so when we got home, we decided to go for dropping that last pesky wake-up, and you DID it! Mommy is so proud of you! (also, she's almost getting enough sleep to feel her face again--jk (not really :)
You like to "talk" or "sing" to yourself in the middle of the night.
You are in love with "melmo", "cookie", "bee burr", and Sesame Street in general. Books, stuffed animals...even bits of the show. You love it all. You've taken to turning on the tv and saying, "melmo. Feet." because you want to watch the Elmo's World with the feet in it. If mommy would let you, you would be a VERY happy tv watcher...you think it's mesmerizing.
You are my little mimic, and will parrot almost every word said to you. You have added words to your own vocabulary this month, but your little echo is so sweet. Mommy loves to hear your echo "monkey!" and daddy likes "waffle"...."mahkey" and "faffle", respectively :)
You are saying most of the animal names as well as sounds now. You are convinced that a pig is a cow, but other than that, you are very good at remembering their names and sounds. You almost always want Old MacDonald to have a duck for some reason!
You are starting to become interested in more songs with motions than before. We've been singing 5 Little Monkeys in the Tree (mostly because when you slam the table to say SNAP, it makes me laugh :), My God is so BIG!, and Itsy Bitsy Spider....along with our usual favorites (Sissy can always get you to sing the Lemondrops and Raindrops song--and Old MacDonald, and Happy if you Know it are usually fun too)
You have joined your sister in expressing your opinion about the songs we dance to as well. If a song comes up on the ipod you don't want, you'll immediately just start saying, "No. No." until we change it. If you hear one you DO like, you dance like crazy.
You have begun dragging the kitchen chairs around to climb up to whatever you would like to reach. We had to move the step stool out of the bathroom, and instead you just took an empty laundry basket, turned it over, and stepped on that (I'm sure a trick learned from your sister :) Sometimes when you go to bed, mommy is just happy that you didn't hurt yourself or fall from a great height. My little daredevil!
You like puzzles, the slide, blocks and destroying the towers we build, baby dolls, shoes, and books.
You are a friendly little guy and taking you to the store is like going on the campaign trail. You don't hesitate to say, "HI!" and wave to anyone who crosses your path.
You have definitely figured out when people think you are cute, because your show off face comes out, and you can get very silly. You are basically a ham anytime, and sometimes you just fake laugh and throw your head down...which makes us all laugh for real. :)
You are a sunshine presence in our family, with your easy cuddles and your impish smile. We love you!
