The adventure, the ugly couch, and the plan...
5 years ago, a newly married Aaron and I made the decision to move from Illinois to Pennsylvania so that Aaron could be the youth pastor at the War College Chapel. We rented a (too)small truck, and for about 9 hours straight loaded and unloaded, trying to make our belongings fit. It was only Aaron, Will, and I trying to move every earthly thing we owned down the flight of stairs and into the truck. I clearly remember that our ugly, million-year-old sleeper sofa was one of the last things. It was almost midnight, and that couch weighed more than a tank. Aaron and Will struggled with it, and finally in frustration basically dropped it down the stairs (it amazingly survived). At 12:30am, we said our goodbyes to Will, and pulled out of the parking lot (yes, in the middle of the night. We were young then :). Embarking on a new adventure together!
Last night, we made official what we've known for several months now. Our time here is drawing to a close. Aaron actually met with the board a few weeks ago, but last night was the night we told our kiddos that we were leaving. By all accounts, it was easier than most churches; 95% of them will be moving on too. But there is a small contigency of kids that have been "ours" for several years now, and they are the ones we have to leave behind. It has been out of respect for all our kiddos that I haven't mentioned our plans here before now. You never know who's reading... (I know there are a couple of you that "check up" on us (meaning the baby :) here---especially since she became too distracting and daddy kicked her out of youth group :). What a bittersweet season we are in! We are so excited to be setting out on another new adventure in God, but we also love our kids. We'll miss them. Gain and loss always runs together in this life.
Where are we going, you might ask? Well.......we don't really know. (yeah, you read that right, and we aren't crazy, I swear! Just obedient :). Aaron has been accepted into one Seminary so far, but he has applied three places, and we are still waiting to hear which of those three directions we will be going. Shall we say, Kentucky? or Massachusetts? Or maybe California? They are similar, right? :)
At any rate, we will be keeping you all posted, and we appreciate your prayers. We can't wait to see how all the details will be coming together--we've followed God long enough to know that they will--but the waiting in limbo is hard. We are trying to make some decisions about selling or renting out our house (and then of course, this week the dishwasher leaked, which has now made the floor we just replaced a couple months ago bubble terribly.....never a dull moment!), and we are looking into the best option for Aaron to attend (full-time work, part-time school or full-time school, etc.). Needless to say, there are alot of details to attend to, and the months will be short :) More to come on this, I'm sure......

We moved twice in the last 18 months. First to Elim and then to our current home. I know all about the limbo, just waiting for God's direction. What an exciting journey to be on, knowing that God is truly in control. To be in the place where you don't struggle against His will anymore, but just say, "Where, Lord? What's next?"
It's freeing and you know that you are right where He wants you to be. God bless your family during this time. Keep us posted!
