D is for Quack-Quack :)

Today I was upstairs putting away laundry while Brynne played downstairs with her dad. Recently, she's been yelling "daaaaadddy!" or "moommmmmy!" when she is in another room and wants us. This started from the book "Froggy gets Dressed" by Jonathan London. In his books, Froggy's mama always calls him "froooooggggyy!", and we've been yelling "frrooogggyy!" back and forth with Brynne because she likes it, and because it's so cute I can't stand it. ANYWAY.....today while I was upstairs, she decided she wanted me. So she yelled up the stairs, but instead of her usually cute "moommmmyy!", all I heard was "MOM! MOM!". Since when was she old enough to move from "mommy" to "mom"?? Sigh. Another way she's not really a baby anymore.....which threw me into needing another blog post of all she's been doing in the last few weeks. So here goes:

She's known her alphabet letters for a couple of months now (thank you Live N' Learn Laughtop! :). She can "spell" things in books and recognize all the letters, but she doesn't quite know them well enough to say them in order. Also, she calls some of the letters by the object instead of the letter (ex: B is for Boat, so she just says boat). Anyway, it got me thinking that if she COULD say her alphabet in order, it would sound something like this:
A, Boat, Cat, Quack Quack (Duck), E, Fish, G, Hippo, Igloo, J, K, L, Mouse, N, O, Pig.
Queen, R, S, T, Umbrella, V, W, X, Y and Z.
Last week the "r" would have been bock-bock (for rooster), and the "g" would be "go". I figured when she's writing her college essays, I want to remember when it all began.... :)

She LOVES to play playdough. Her favorite thing to do is to have mommy or daddy make "man" (gingerbread man cookie cutter). She then proceeds to rip all his limbs off (opening her mouth in shock after each one and checking to make sure whoever is nearby is also properly "shocked"), and then she yells, "more, man! more man!". We don't know where this came from--we did not create this game....although Aaron's been singing "Man Eater" now when he plays playdough :) This is also where her current fascination with saying "THANK YOU....maaaan, You're WELCOME, maaaan" while she's playing came from.

She's been calling people on the phone like crazy recently too. She'll have entire conversations on the phone with everyone in the family, and it is hilarious to watch her facial expressions--she's so clearly imitating what she sees (do I really make those faces while on the phone??!) She's also been walking around saying, "thank you. You're welcome!" to herself, and to anyone who might only say one or the other. :)

After dinner the other night she started asking to "see pop-pop". This is a common occurrence, and so I started our regular conversation on the subject:
"honey, where is pop-pop?"
"home"
"that's right, he's home. What is he doing?"
(answer is usually "sleeping" or "working", etc....this is the answer I was expecting.) This is the answer I got:
"he freaking!"
Whaaat????? I wasn't aware that pop-pop had such a stressful day! :)

Other new words include the phrase "yes, a doo!" which she uses all the time, and "whoopsiedaisy!"----which is actually pronounced "whoopsibbie!" (Sibbie is also the name of our cat :)

And last but not least, Brynne gave a boy a kiss today....There is a little boy we are friends with who is in toddler LOVE with Brynne, if such a thing is possible. He will hug her all day long, and always wants to be near her. Today we were all at the library, and the two of them hugged, and then they just stood facing one another.....doing nothing....and then MY daughter slowly (and I mean slowly--she was milking it) leans in....further, further.....further.......and stops. Apparently someone told her the "you go 90%, then the other person should make up the other 10% if they want to kiss you" rule? He did. And then he hugged her until she was trying to get free....all while the mommys--excuse me, "moms"--were trying not to bust out in a big AWWWW. It was very cute. And now there will be NO MORE KISSING until she's like 25. That'll work, right? :)

Perhaps we should take a moment of silence for the many, many...many fallen Play-doh men, who lived so briefly, and resisted so poorly the tiny yet destructive hands of a toddler.

Hey, we HAVE to get together for the girls to play before we end up living too far apart for a day trip! So let me know what days in April you have free...Abby LOVES top play playdoh too :) (except that i usually have to mold a dinosaur for her!)
